Susan Lindahl Wins University Library Barnard Award 2023
Susan Lindahl is this year’s recipient of the UW-Stout University Library Barnard Outstanding Service Award. Susan has worked for the University Library for 17 years, serving in many different roles. Currently she is the Library’s Assistant Director, Access Services Manager, Cataloger, Copyright Officer, and Building Manager. Nominators described Susan as being “student focused”, “an advocate for library spaces” including securing new carpet for the first floor, “an important leader on the issue of book challenges in the community of Menomonie”, and “a quiet but effective leader and advocate for the library.” Susan’s nominations reflected the way she priorities students and her ability to collaborate across campus to make the library accessible to all. A reception and award ceremony to honor Susan will be held on Wednesday, April 26th at 10:00 am in the Library’s Educational Material Center, located on the second floor of the Robert S. Swanson Library & Learning Center. All are invited to attend.
The Barnard Award was established to recognize a library employee who has achieved exceptional accomplishments in serving the informational needs of students, faculty, and staff. The award is supported by the David P. Barnard Family Endowment and the Stout Foundation. David Barnard, retired dean of Learning Resources, and his wife Kay established the award in 2000.
